Exclusive Interview with BRIDGE On His New Music Video for "Body", Jewelry Making, and Women Empowerment

You should probably be allowed to hate me for saying the over-used word “vibe”, but in this case, please spare me because this track really is one. LA native singer, songwriter, and producer BRIDGE recently released his new single “Body”, and to accompany the track came a badass, female protagonist music video directed by Ganna Bogdan. You can watch the visual above.
This single comes to us as BRIDGE’s fifth single release of 2020. In particular, he explains that this song was a song he wrote to make women feel good and elevate them as he has always had strong female figures in his life that he looked-up to and admired. I have always been a fan of this artist’s work, especially for his album WRECK, which was released back in 2017. He then followed this with his sophomore album SMUG in 2019, and then he released a multitude of singles and collaborations with artists such as DVBBS and Schoolboy Q (to name a few).
In this new music video, we get a small mezze-like tastes of edge, adventure, sexiness, and extreme sports—quite the concoction. With erotic close-ups, crisp colors, and a stunningly desolate backdrop, the simple video as a whole packs a punch.
BRIDGE creates soundscapes that acts a liaison between the R&B and dark-pop electronica realms. His attention to the details in each note, rhythm, and beat is evident by the narratives and emotions he pours into each record.
Aside from his wonderful voice, BRIDGE has a pretty fantastic way of luring you into a rabbit hole of melodies and reverbs. His music is sweet with a grungy dusting over it, making it calming, comforting, and mesmeric. It’s like sitting alone at a party and watching the haziness of the environment and the volume of the crowds tune out so you’re just left with yourself and your thoughts in a crowded room (reminds you of “Here” by Alessia Cara, no?). His music is appreciative of various forms of noise-making, blending tones to give you a surprise cocktail of sound. In fact, his stage name was inspired by his curiosity and passion for the creative process and connecting various genres with one another, hence BRIDGE.
As an independent artist, he is free of limitations. That allows him to cross every sector of music as he so pleases, and he’s making sure to take full advantage of that fortune. We chatted with BRIDGE to hear more about his creative decisions, projects, and plans as well as some of his fresh new music finds.

[NM]: What inspired the single "Body”?
[B]: “Normally I will just start with some melodies and see if anything sticks for me. The idea came out and I liked it.”
[NM]: Now, I love the badass nature of the female character of your music video, and I know you mentioned that you have a lot of strong women in your life. Who would some of those women be that inspired this?
[B]: “The strongest women in my life and my biggest inspiration is my mother. Growing up I’ve always had female best friends and strong women around me. Women run the world.”
[NM]: How did the visual come together (how was the process of filming and getting it together -- especially during this time of a pandemic)?
[B]: ”We had to keep the crew really small and make sure everyone was COVID negative. It actually worked out great. I’m not a fan of big sets. It worked out to be more small and intimate. I wanted to flip the narrative on what you would normally expect from a song like this. Ganna Bogdan (The Director) made it super seamless and easy. She’s amazing.”
[NM]: What projects do you have coming up to the end of this year / start of next year that you are excited for and that fans should be hyped about (that you are allowed to share, of course)?
[B]: “We are in control of our own releases so that means we can drop whenever we want thankfully. And right now my plan is to drop often and a lot.”
[NM]: What's your detour? (what's something you do outside of music -- a passion project, a hobby, a fun fact, etc.)
[B]: “I’m a co-founder with my boy Anwar of a jewelry company Martyre. We’ve been working on it for about 2 years and usually if I’m not making music I’m working on that. Outside of that I like to drive. Cars, Motorcycles, etc.”
[NM]: Who is your current favorite new found artist?
[B]: Rosalia, Rema and fiveo foreign are the only things I’ve listened to this week.
