Jacob Saint Patrick Releases Magically Dark & Capturing EP 'ID EST'

i.e. ID EST

If you haven’t listened yet, this is the 3-track project I think everyone should hear while we’re all in quarantine from a random occurrence that swept in the entire world, proving to us to that within just an instance, all of this could be gone. Jacob Saint Patrick is an emerging artist with a sound that is both elegant and chaotic all in one. Reminiscent of bands such as The 1975, this young alternative-pop artist brings makes the kind of noise that we need to hear, especially in these times. Within the stunning production and instrumentation, is the confidence of vulnerability he exudes in the vocals and lyrics. This EP is a reminder that within all this splendor and all this agony, people will be and still are creating. Here’s what Jake of Jacob Saint Patrick created: his debut EP Id Est. You can listen to it above. Here’s what he had to say about his beautifully broken debut as well as what his detour is:

Why did you start music?

“I think I’m addicted to sensory input. Some people are addicted to their feeds, their work, their comforts. Most of the time, the air around me hums at this flat frequency. Drives a person crazy. It’s like I’ve had a lobotomy. I need input, I need my heart-rate up. I need to feel a sense of wonder, like a chord built on top of that one flat frequency - one turns into ten - and you feel lifted by this gravitas. Without it, nothing really feels right, especially now, with the world in such an over-connected mess. I’m less addicted to music itself, more so stuck on how it makes us feel.”

Why did you create this EP and what significance does it have to you?

“Id Est, my debut, came together over a period of 3 years. The songs hit me in different times of severe intensity - the whole world was buzzing when I made each one. Even after quitting music, being knocked down time after time, they were still there, like an itch I couldn’t scratch. I needed to show myself and the people that really stuck with me through that hard time who I was, or at least who I could be.”

What’s your detour

“When I’m not making noise I like films - but the way you’d be in love with a person. I think in an alternate place I’d already have become an actor, or a director, or a writer. I’ll take a solo trip to the movies anytime, there’s magic in getting lost. I guess life seems less serious with a gallon icee in your hand.”
